Started in 2002 with an intake of 60 students, the department has made rapid strides in providing all the facilities needed for training of students. Blessed with a highly qualified, dedicated and competent team of faculty members both teaching and non teaching, provides excellent practical training through well equipped and sophisticated laboratories and workshops. 

Computerized Universal Testing Machine, High-resolution metallurgical microscope, State of the art Metrology lab, CAD/CAM lab, sophisticated IC Engines and hydraulics Lab, Heat Transfer and Design Labs  are some of the unique features of the department. 

13 laboratories and workshops are located in new look and well designed buildings. Latest modeling and Analysis software packages are available in the CAD / CAM lab for hands on training to the students.

Emphasis is being laid on research and considerable consultancy work is being taken up in the department.
